Fastest where it counts

Steam, the largest gaming platform in the world, publishes something quite useful for anyone curious about real internet performance: average download rates per ISP, based on the actual downloads of its users. No lab setups, no test servers, no ideal conditions. Just what arrives at people's homes when they hit the download button.

For Luxembourg, the current numbers (as of July 2026) look like this:

  • vo.lu (as "Visual Online") - 174.5 Mbps
  • Eltrona - 157 Mbps
  • Luxembourg Online - 152.1 Mbps
  • Orange (as "Orange Belgium") - 150.3 Mbps
  • Tango (as "Proximus Luxembourg") - 133.8 Mbps
  • POST Luxembourg - 118.4 Mbps

A small note on reading the original list on Steam: it is sorted by the amount of data delivered to each network, not by speed. So the ordering there tells you which providers carry the most Steam traffic in Luxembourg, and the speed column tells you how fast that traffic actually flows. As a smaller ISP, it makes sense for us to be pretty low in the list.

Reality over awards

To be upfront about it: you will rarely find us on award lists or in sponsored provider comparisons. Some of them simply overlook smaller providers. Others expect participation fees or marketing budgets we prefer to spend elsewhere. That is fine with us. We never believed that a logo on a trophy should be the reason someone picks their internet provider.

What we do believe in is real-world performance. The Steam statistics are valuable precisely because nobody can optimize for them artificially. There is no test to prepare for and no jury to convince. Millions of downloads happen, Steam averages them, and the result is what it is. If our customers see high numbers there, it means the whole chain works: the fiber to their home, our backbone, and our connections to the rest of the internet.


There is no single trick behind good download speeds. It is the sum of a few decisions we made early and keep investing in:

  • Fiber, our top priority. We build on fiber technology, because it is simply the most honest medium. The bandwidth you subscribe to is the bandwidth you get, without sharing effects or distance-dependent degradation. The biggest part of our customers even profits from our "Fiber Regio" plans, where even more of the technological stack lies completely within our own network.
  • Good peerings. Speed within our own network means little if the path to the content is congested. We maintain direct and short paths to the networks and content platforms that matter, Steam's content servers included. Fewer hops, less congestion, more of your subscribed bandwidth actually usable. While not shown in this statistic, this also means top-notch latency, as in reduced ping times.
  • Optimizing for real-world applicability. Our benchmark is not a speed test result but daily use: game downloads, video calls, cloud backups, streaming, and latency-sensitive gaming itself. A network tuned for a synthetic test can still feel sluggish in practice. We prefer it the other way around.

Our commitment to you

Behind all of this sits a simple conviction: the internet should be open, neutral and private. We do not throttle services, we do not prioritize traffic based on commercial deals, and we do not monetize your data. Every service should reach you as fast as our infrastructure allows, whether it is a global gaming platform or a small local website.

That is also why a statistic like Steam's represents us better than any award ever could. It measures everyone the same way, it cannot be bought, and it reflects what our customers actually experience.

The numbers will move over time, and other providers will invest too. Good. Competition on real performance is exactly the kind of competition we like. We will keep doing what we have been doing: building fiber, improving peerings, and letting the measurements speak.
